About Verken IT & Analytics

Built by a Practitioner, Not a Professor.

Verken was founded to bridge the gap between academic data training and what African professionals actually need at work. Every lesson comes from real experience — because Isaac uses these skills every day.

The Story

Why Verken Exists

I'm a pharmacist, commercial sales leader, and the founder of Verken IT & Analytics.

I currently lead a commercial sales team at Tridem Pharma. A big part of my role is making sure the team has the right visibility into our data — the signals that tell us where we should focus our time in the field.

But I didn't start my career in analytics.

I started in pharmacy operations, supply chain, and logistics roles — including time at Zipline — and early on I kept running into the same problem: important decisions were being made without clear data. Reports were manual, and teams were often reacting to problems instead of seeing them coming.

So I started building systems.

Across different roles, that meant creating dashboards to track pharmacy performance, building operational metrics for supply chains, analyzing logistics data, and designing sales tracking systems for commercial teams.

Over time, colleagues and friends began asking how I built these systems. What started as informal help quickly turned into something bigger. I kept meeting professionals who had access to data but didn't have the practical skills to work with it confidently.

That's why I started Verken IT & Analytics.

Through Verken, I teach data skills focused on solving real problems professionals face at work. My goal isn't just to teach tools — it's to help people think clearly about data and communicate insights that actually drive decisions.

I teach from my inbox, my dashboards, and my actual Monday morning reports.

As demand grew, so did what Verken does. Organisations started coming to us not just to train their teams, but to solve their data problems directly — building dashboards, automating reports, and designing the analytical systems they needed. That's how our consulting and IT solutions work grew alongside the training.

Our Mission

Practical Skills. Real Jobs.

Africa has no shortage of talented, motivated professionals. What it often lacks is access to the kind of training that translates directly into better performance at work — not academic theory, but tools you can open on Monday morning and actually use.

Verken exists to fix that. Every course, every lesson, and every dataset we use is designed around the realities of working in an African business environment.

Our Vision

Data-Literate Professionals Across Africa.

We believe the next generation of African business leaders will be defined by their ability to work with data — to find patterns, tell stories with numbers, and make decisions with confidence rather than guesswork.

Our vision is a continent where data literacy is the norm, not the exception — and where geography is no longer a barrier to world-class skills training.

Why the name Verken?

Verken is derived from Afrikaans, meaning “to explore.” It reflects exactly what we do — explore data, uncover insights, and find the opportunities hidden inside numbers. Curiosity and expertise, by design.

Practical First

If you can't use it at work by Friday, we don't teach it. Every skill we cover has a real-world application that matters to employers across Africa.

Context Matters

No generic examples. Our datasets, case studies, and scenarios come from real business problems — FMCG, banking, healthcare, logistics, and more.

Access for Everyone

World-class training shouldn't require a foreign tuition fee. We price for the African market without compromising on quality.

Why Verken

What Makes Our Training Different

There's no shortage of online courses. Here's why our students stay, refer their colleagues, and come back.

Taught by a Working Analyst

Isaac isn't a full-time instructor who left industry a decade ago. He's spent years using data to solve real business problems — from process improvements and operational trackers to reporting and commercial analytics. His examples are current because they come from actual work, not textbooks.

Real Data, Not Textbook Data

Generic online courses use clean, pre-packaged datasets built to make teaching easier. We use real-world data — messy, unstructured, and shaped the way it actually comes out of business systems. That's the kind of data you'll face at work, so that's what we train on.

Practical Over Theoretical

We skip the dry theory chapters that most courses use to pad their runtimes. Every lesson ties directly to something you can apply at work — not just a concept to memorise for an assessment. The goal is always a skill you can open on Monday morning and actually use.

Small Cohorts, Real Mentorship

Instructor-Led cohorts are kept small deliberately. Isaac knows every student's name. You get direct feedback on your projects, answers to your specific questions, and the kind of mentorship you'd normally only get from a senior colleague who had time for you — which most don't.
